Robin Update: Nest No More

We felt really honored to have a robin consider our front porch for her nest site. She started sitting in the nest early last week; however, by last Thursday afternoon, she had disappeared.

I don't know why she abandoned the nest, although her move may have been prompted by construction work going on at our next-door neighbor's.

Today we climbed up to take the nest down. There were no eggs inside, which was a relief. I'm glad to know that no eggs went unwarmed.

And even though we are sad that the robin has flown away, we were happy to find this beautiful, sturdy nest that she left behind. Look how cozy and well constructed it is!
